Raphael Geronimo is a musician and percussionist based in Vancouver, Canada. Born in the Philippines, he learned to play congas, timbales and bongo from his father, Rene “Boying” Geronimo. He continued his practice by studying percussion in Cuba and New York City. Raphael continues to direct the group Rumba Calzada that he took over from his father in 1995. The band has been nominated for a 2003 Juno Award, 2002 Canadian Independent Music Award, 2002 West Coast Music Award and a 2008 Western Canadian Music Award.  

Raphael has also toured, opened for, recorded or performed with various artists such as Oscar Lopez, Gaye Delorme, James Keelaghan, Ernan Lopez Nussa, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Arturo Sandoval, Richie Ray, Harry Connick Jr, Poncho Sanchez, Jane Bunnett, Daniel Wesley, and Hey Ocean.
